DJ / PRODUCER
Summer seems to have come a bit early here in BK, and I'm not mad at that at all. Free shows in the park, beers on the stoop, and block parties are all just around the corner. Things have already starting kicking in to high gear with recent sets rocking with the Dutty Artz guys and holding it down at East Village Radio. As a heads-up to the listeners out there, Pain In My Heart will be switching to 8:00 - 10:00 PM Eastern Time starting in May, so don't sleep. Here's a quick top five of tracks for your hot weather listening pleasure.
Stevie Nicks- Stand Back (Eli Escobar Mix)
The Superlatives- I Don't Know How (To Say I Love You)
Sergio Mendes- Magalenha
The Moments- To You With Love
Petrona Martinez- La Vida Vale La Pena
There's something about having a radio show that I've always been drawn to. From interning at KSJS spinning Anthrax records in junior high, to bumping Janitors Against Apartheid and Marvin Gaye on the pirate station my friends and I build in high school, to late nights mixing Pharcyde and DJ Muggs on KZSU, I've always loved the freedom radio provides. It was only a matter of time before I was back in a regular time slot.
My new show Pain In My Heart airs Thursday night on East Village Radio. Tune in from 10:00 till Midnight (Eastern Time) for a rundown of what I'm calling "Soul Music For Shaking Off The Blues." I'm trying to shy away from too much music that only crusty collector dudes care about and keep it to tracks hit you in the heart whether you're an afficionado or not. You can stream the most recent show whenever you like, but if you listen live you can hit me up on AIM at Eastvillageradio. And if you're not familiar with the station in general, give it a peep. NYC's finest are putting it down.
